If you own a home here, you already know the pattern. October through April, downtown belongs to the snowbirds, the galas, the wine festivals, and a reservation system that punishes anyone trying to walk into Mizner Park on a Saturday. Then May clears out, and the assumption has always been that the city goes quiet with it.
This summer, that assumption is wrong.

Free Fridays at Mizner Park, and What's Actually on the Bill
The City of Boca Raton brought back its "Summer in the City" free seasonal lineup of live performances at Mizner Park Amphitheater, running tribute concerts, a soccer watch party, an outdoor film screening, emerging local talent, and Battle of the Bands through the summer months. Every show is free, and unlike the winter season, seating is first come, first-served with guests bringing chairs and blankets.

Getting there is easier than parking suggests. Convenient parking is available at nearby City facilities and metered spaces throughout downtown, or arrive on the BocaConnect shuttle using the Circuit app, or hop on the MiCa autonomous shuttle looping through Mizner Park from 5 to 8 p.m. The autonomous shuttle detail alone tells you something about how the city is positioning downtown this summer.
The Burger Battle, and Why the Sanborn Square Calendar Matters
The signal event of the summer is not at Mizner. It is one block south. Boca Raton has three signature annual food festivals at Sanborn Square Park: the Boca Burger Battle on July 11, 2026, the Boca Raton Wine & Food Festival on November 21, 2026, and the Florida Tacos Wings & Desserts Battle returning April 24, 2027, all three benefiting the Children's Giving Foundation. The Boca Burger Battle in July is Florida's longest-running burger competition, and if you have never gone because you assumed nothing happened in July, that is the misconception this post exists to correct.
Sanborn Square is also where the recurring free calendar lives. The Sanborn Square Night Market is held every first Thursday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m., and Yoga in the Park runs every Saturday at 9 a.m. If you want a weekend anchor that costs nothing, that is it. For the morning-market crowd, the Boca Green Market runs Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Royal Palm Place.
The Restaurants That Actually Opened This Spring
For years, the running joke among Boca residents has been that every restaurant announcement is a year from arrival. Not this cycle. Four concepts landed between March and May.
Maison Brunch opened in April, with an authentic French cafe sensibility inspired by the traditions of a small village in France's Vendée region, and a menu spanning croissants, omelets, pancakes, quiches, croque-monsieur sandwiches, charcuterie boards, and housemade desserts. It is the closest thing Boca has right now to a true all-day French neighborhood cafe.

Bello Forno Ristorante opened in April with authentic Italian cuisine grounded in traditional cooking methods and a menu focused on classic Italian flavors prepared with an emphasis on freshness and simplicity.
Cookie Head re-opened March 29 as a playful dessert destination with a rotating menu of baked goods, soft serve, and creative combinations, staples like Classic Sugar, Nutella Red Velvet, and Chocolate Chip alongside monthly rotations that have included Cookie Butter Cheesecake, Dubai Chocolate, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch S'Mores. Take the kids on a Sunday after the Green Market.
What's Landing Between Now and Fall
If you have been reading the trade coverage all winter, you have seen the same names cycle. Here is which ones actually have dates.
The most-hyped opening is Fletchers. Fletchers, described as a downtown culinary and social hotspot, is expected to open this fall at 133 SE Mizner Boulevard as a premier destination for fine dining and private membership. Celebrity chef and former Olympian Michael Stember, who founded underground sushi pop-ups in New York and Los Angeles called Sushi Belly Towers, will helm the kitchen, blending new American cuisine with Japanese and Mediterranean influences, and the concept combines elevated dining that transforms into a nightlife experience as the night evolves. The Fletchers Members Club, a 40-seat private area, will offer curated amenities, themed evenings, and exclusive member benefits.
Nômade is the other Mizner-adjacent arrival everyone is watching. Boca Magazine confirmed in May 2026 that Nômade will open a Boca Raton location, with late-night bites and a high-energy grand opening near Mizner Park.
At Town Center, Limani Grill is bringing a refined Mediterranean seafood ethos to Boca Raton, balancing elegance with coastal ease through market-fresh seafood, crudo, and charcoal-grilled specialties, with premium ingredients like first-pressed Kalamata olive oil and Santorini capers.
On East Palmetto Park Road, Il Migliore is set to open along East Palmetto Park Road with a modern Italian dining experience showcasing housemade pastas, refined antipasti, and classic Italian entrées in a stylish yet approachable space suited for date nights, business dinners, and celebratory occasions.
The café side of the ledger is arguably more consequential for daily life:
- Maman, the French bakery brand, is expanding into west Boca Raton, central Boca Raton, and downtown Delray Beach with three new locations later this year, part of a brand with more than 50 storefronts known for rustic charm and thoughtfully crafted menus. Three storefronts in one metro is not a soft launch.
- Black Star Bakery & Cafe is preparing to open its first location outside New York around May, focused on artisan baking, quality coffee, and health-conscious fare spanning croissants, bagels, sandwiches, and grain bowls, with specialty offerings like lavender or rose matcha iced lattes, Fuji apple cider, and blueberry lemonade.
- Crema Gourmet on Yamato Road is planning to open with fresh coffee and smoothies alongside salads, sandwiches, and pasta, plus an all-day breakfast lineup extending eggs, omelets, pancakes, and toast well past the morning rush.
- Beignets & Brew is bringing a taste of New Orleans to Boca Raton, pairing specialty coffees like the Biscoff Cookie Butter Latte and Honey Cinna-Lavender with signature beignets ranging from classic powdered sugar to the Cinna-Swirl and the Turtle finished with caramel, cream cheese, chocolate, and pecans.
The pattern to notice: three of the four incoming cafés are first-time Florida expansions from established East Coast operators. That is a leading indicator, not a coincidence. Operators do not pick a market for their first Florida storefront by accident.
One Thursday Night Worth Putting on the Calendar
For a slower midweek option, The Vine Restaurant & Bar Lounge at 1515 S Federal Hwy is now home to Loving Bingo, a Thursday-night bingo with real cash prizes, a full bar and restaurant, and live entertainment; doors open at 6 p.m. and the first game starts at 6:30, 18-and-over, with a portion of every night's proceeds benefiting the Children's Giving Foundation. It is the kind of standing weeknight anchor that used to exist only in the winter season.
How to Use This Summer
If you have lived in Boca for more than a few years, you already have your winter rhythm. What you probably do not have is a summer one, because until recently there was not much to build it around. Try this shape for the next six weeks:
- Friday nights at Mizner Park for Summer in the City. Bring chairs. Skip valet.
- Saturday mornings split between Yoga at Sanborn Square and the Green Market at Royal Palm Place.
- First Thursdays for the Sanborn Square Night Market.
- July 11 blocked out for the Boca Burger Battle.
- One new restaurant a week from the spring class before the fall openings crowd everyone's booking calendar.
By the time Fletchers, Nômade, Limani, and the Maman locations start ribbon-cuttings this fall, the residents who treated summer as dead time will be lining up behind the ones who spent June and July mapping the ground.
